The ElectroTech Revolution: Why Clean Energy Is More Than Just “Green”

May 27, 2026/in Blog, SRI Investing, Sustainable Investing/by Pete Krull

In the latest episode of Dollars & Change: The Experts’ Guide to Sustainable and Responsible Investing, host Peter Krull sat down with renewable energy marketing expert Jessica Fishman for a conversation about the future of clean energy, the rise of “ElectroTech,” and why the global energy transition is accelerating faster than many expected.

From Marketing to Mission-Driven Work

Jessica has worked in marketing and communications for roughly 20 years, and she made the transition into the renewable energy sector over 15 years ago to align her passion for solving the energy crisis with her career. Jessica is currently a fractional CMO who helps renewable energy companies grow and scale.

Throughout her career, Jessica has worked across the renewable energy value chain, including solar manufacturing, installation, development, recycling, and energy storage. That experience has given her a front-row seat to the industry’s rapid evolution.

Why “ElectroTech” Changes the Conversation

In this episode, Jessica shared her enthusiasm for the “ElectroTech Revolution,” a concept popularized by an Ember report that reframes renewable energy as a technology revolution rather than simply an environmental, or “green,” movement.

Jessica argued that traditional discussions about renewable energy often miss the bigger picture. While clean energy is environmentally beneficial, it is also cheaper, faster to deploy, less vulnerable to fuel price volatility, and more energy independent.

She shared that, unlike fossil fuels, which are finite resources, renewable energy technologies such as solar panels, batteries, and wind turbines are fundamentally different. Keeping in mind that while technologies improve over time, resources deplete.

Investment Trends Tell the Story

The conversation also focused heavily on investment trends in clean energy. Data proves that global investment in renewable technologies is outpacing investments in fossil fuels, with solar alone attracting more capital than oil in recent years.

Peter added that, despite political headwinds and policy uncertainty, the overwhelming majority of new energy infrastructure development in the United States continues to be based on renewables because the economics are increasingly undeniable.

The discussion underscored a major takeaway for investors: the energy transition is no longer being driven solely by environmental concerns; market forces are increasingly driving it.

Hope Through Action

As the episode wrapped up, Peter asked his signature closing question: “What gives you hope?”

Jessica acknowledged that climate optimism can be difficult at times, but said hope is ultimately a conscious choice: one that must be paired with action.

She reflected on how far renewable energy has already come, noting that solar’s growth over the past two decades once seemed almost impossible. That history of progress gives her confidence that continued innovation and deployment can still drive meaningful change.
