Earth Equity Advisors partnered with Sugar Hollow Solar to share how their clients’ values are the same as their own. Together, we are a part of the solution for a better future, planet, and society.

Neill Yelverton:

Growing up, I became passionate about the environment. Carbon emissions, CO2 emissions, global climate change – that is a big driver and issue. The foundations of this are a long time coming for me.

Peter Krull:

I founded Earth Equity Advisors in 2004. And the intention was to help people to align their investments with their values. You know, I recognized that there were a lot of firms out there who were investing traditionally, who weren’t taking things into account, such as the environment and social issues. And I wanted to do something different. I wanted to do something that actually made a difference in the world – where we had a positive impact.

Neill Yelverton:

We help folks align their investments with their values, but those values are my values too. It’s not a marketing gimmick, right? It’s not something that we’re just doing. It’s very much aligned with who we are. It’s in our DNA.

Doug Ager:

We’ve always been like, well, what can we do to really make a difference in a positive way? And I think there were a lot of different ways that we looked at doing that, but solar became a very clear a way to really make a difference.

Peter Krull:

When we look at how to invest your monies, we’re looking at it from a positive social and environmental perspective. What kind of impact are our investments going to have on the earth? And as a client, we have folks come to us that specifically want to have that impact. They want to align their investments with their values. And we can basically take that portfolio and turn it into a portfolio that they can be happy with, that they can be comfortable with, and know that their impact is not just on their own bottom line, but it’s on a much bigger global bottom line.

Phelps Clarke:

I think what brings people to solar is a desire to help be a part of the solution. I think people perceive that we have a problem as a society where we need to transition from fossil fuels rapidly and it makes them feel good to be a part of the solution. But I think every deal comes down to a discussion of dollars and cents. And the great thing about solar is it’s a financially viable investment that you can feel really good about.

Neill Yelverton:

I think that individual decisions matter, you know, and that we each have to do what we can, whatever that may be, but we each have to move in that direction. So for me, solar power, you know, Sugar Hollow Solar, that’s a natural progression. This is a box I can check. This is a thing I can do to move my family in the direction that we want to move.

Peter Krull:

So we decided to go solar mostly because it aligned with our, with our values. We look at this as walking the walk, we want to be able to not just, you know, help people invest in a responsible way, but show them that, you know, this is how we’re living life.

Phelps Clarke:

We believe solar is here and it’s mainstream and we’re excited to be a part of really making that happen. We see climate change as a great opportunity. You know – on the other side of this, we don’t just see a problem solved. We see an awesome future.
